GoLibre — Cancellation Policy
(Phase 1 – Launch Policy)
Last Updated: [Insert Date]
This Cancellation Policy explains how cancellations, refunds, and related fees are handled on the GoLibre Platform. This policy applies to both Renters and Hosts and forms part of the GoLibre Terms of Use.
1. General Principles
- Cancellations impact both Hosts and Renters
- Policies are designed to be fair, predictable, and transparent
- Refund eligibility depends on timing and circumstances
- All times are calculated based on the scheduled trip start time
2. Renter Cancellation Policy
2.1 Free Cancellation Window
Renters may cancel a booking up to 48 hours before the scheduled trip start time for a full refund, excluding non-refundable third-party fees (if any).
2.2 Standard Cancellation
If a Renter cancels between 48 hours and 24 hours before trip start:
- 75% of the trip price is refunded
- Platform service fees may be non-refundable
2.3 Late Cancellation
If a Renter cancels less than 24 hours before trip start:
- 50% of the trip price is refunded
- Platform service fees are non-refundable
This protects Hosts from last-minute losses.
2.4 No-Show
If a Renter fails to pick up the vehicle without canceling:
- No refund will be issued
2.5 Same-Day Booking Grace Period
If a booking is made less than 24 hours before the scheduled trip start time, the Renter may cancel within 60 minutes of booking for a full refund of the trip price, provided that:
- The cancellation occurs before the scheduled trip start time, and
- The vehicle has not been picked up, and
- The Host has not already marked the trip as started.
After the 60-minute grace period expires, the booking is subject to the Late Cancellation policy (Section 2.3).
This protects Hosts from last-minute losses.
3. Host Cancellation Policy
3.1 Host-Initiated Cancellation
Hosts are expected to honor confirmed bookings.
If a Host cancels a confirmed booking without valid cause:
- The Host may be subject to:
- Cancellation penalties
- Reduced listing visibility
- Account review or suspension
3.2 Valid Host Cancellation Reasons
Penalties may be waived if cancellation is due to:
- Mechanical or safety issues
- Accidents or damage
- Force majeure events
- Circumstances beyond the Host's control
Documentation may be required.
4. Trip Modifications
Changes to trip dates, times, or duration:
- May affect pricing and refund eligibility
- Are treated as partial cancellations where applicable
- Must be approved through the Platform
5. Early Returns
If a Renter returns a vehicle early:
- No automatic refund is issued for unused time
- Refunds or credits may be granted at GoLibre's discretion
6. Fees & Refund Processing
- Refunds are processed to the original payment method
- Processing times depend on the payment provider
- Platform service fees are generally non-refundable
7. Extenuating Circumstances
GoLibre may override this policy in limited cases, such as:
- Medical emergencies
- Natural disasters
- Government restrictions
- Safety or fraud concerns
Supporting documentation may be required.
8. Abuse & Circumvention
Repeated cancellations, abuse of refund policies, or attempts to bypass the Platform may result in:
- Account restrictions
- Loss of refund eligibility
- Suspension or termination
9. Policy Updates
GoLibre may update this Cancellation Policy from time to time.
The policy in effect at the time of booking will generally apply unless otherwise required by law.
